Why I’m Building a Sales Tracker for WhatsApp Sellers

“Why not just purchase any of the existing products on the market?” That was the question I got when I announced that I was building a sales tracker app for people who sell via WhatsApp.

I rather flippantly replied “don’t like any of them.” While true, that doesn’t really answer the question, does it? At least, not properly.

Why don’t I like the existing products? Heck, what are existing products?

Here’s the truth: I didn’t actually find any app that was suitable.

I did find an app that can sync data between WhatsApp and excel. But it’s not a sales tracker. And to be blunt, we’re trying go get away from using spreadsheets to track sales. That’s what my wife is using right now, and it sucks

And sure, there are WhatsApp sales trackers out there. But, they’re all designed for corporate sales teams.

That’s just not us. My wife is selling our own products. A corporate CRM tool would just get in the way. What she needs is something that lets her quickly record sales, and keep track of who’s paid and who’s received their products.

I actually considered using WooCommerce, because we’re also planning to sell online. But, entering and managing orders on-the-go using WooCOmmerce is rather slow and tedious.

I also looked at what other WhatsApp sellers are using. Most seem to either use spreadsheets like my wife, or have some makeshift way to tag customers in WhatsApp.

To my surprise, I simply couldn’t find anything suitable for small businesses like ours.

That’s why I’m building my own sales tracker app called Order Hand. It’s still in its early stages, but can already do most of what my wife needs.
